International and Interregional Relations

The development of international and interregional cultural partnerships has the following objectives:

Ensuring St. Petersburg’s position in the international cultural network by promoting the city’s status as the cultural capital of Russia

Supporting the city’s participation in large-scale cultural events in Russia and abroad

Preserving and developing the rich multicultural traditions of Russia

Presenting to citizens the best examples of international culture and cultures of Russian regions.

International projects are realized through collaborations with general consulates and international cultural centers.

Leading artists and cultural organizations of the city are invited to represent St. Petersburg’s culture during the international and interregional events.

The joint projects with counterparts in other regions and countries are conducted by city’s cultural organizations, including the State Hermitage Museum, the State Russian Museum, the Museum of Russian Political History, the Russian State Historical Archive, the Russian National Library, and the Mariinsky Theater.

Committee for Culture supports and participates in the successful long term programs: European Cultural Capital, European Cultural Month, Russian-Finnish Cultural Forum. The Committee is eager to develop links with compatriots living abroad.
